Labour MPs copy Obama with Facebook and Twitter push

The move follows the success of US president Barack Obama in harnessing the popularity of social networking sites.

A guide is being distributed to MPs this week on how best to use these social media websites to engage with constituents.
The new system will mean that whenever MPs add content to their website it will offer them the option to Tweet about it on Twitter and update their Facebook status.

They will be able to add sections to their websites showing their latest Tweets, their Twitter followers, their Facebook status, the groups they belong to and their Facebook friends.
