Does primary care need to be re-branded?

Primary care is associated with negative connotations such as bureaucracy, paperwork, and being perceived as the lowest physician on the totem pole. Or as this doctor puts it, “‘PCP’ now seems to be synonymous with overworked, underpaid ‘loser’ who at least by some people’s opinions aren’t carrying their weight.”

DoH launches £12m stroke campaign

The campaign aims to teach the public and NHS staff to remember the FAST test – Face Arm Speech Time – to help them recognise the symptoms of stroke.

Professor Roger Boyle, national director for heart disease and stroke in England, said: ‘It’s important to remember that the faster a stroke patient receives emergency treatment, the better their chances are of surviving and avoiding long-term disability.’
